When I see a label or a group of musicians start something on their own that just gets bigger beyond their control, it fascinates me. Yung Lean, the 18-year-old rapper from Stockholm Sweden and his crew of Sad Boys have accomplished just that. They have started a movement of kids that love his music. Primarily with the power of the internet and of course hard work he has cultivated a substantial fan base.
There is plenty of critic out there on Yung Lean. His skills on the mic and the Sad Boys movement as a whole. However, he has found a way to get his message across to a lot of listeners. That translates into tours, selling merchandise, and making music for a living.
I enjoyed the show and being a part of Yung Lean’s first visit to Washington DC.
