Post Malone @ 9:30 Club Washington DC June 8 2015

I’ve said it before, I’m a sucker for an artist that has a strong movement behind them.  A freshly created buzz about their work is even better.  I came across Post Malone’s “White Iverson” while listening to Odd Future’s show on Dash Radio. There was reinforcement that simultaniously ocurred that day too.  I just read the review of his performance in the Dallas Observer.  Soon I found myself wanting to see what what this guy was all about.  You know, you see a white dude with braids and gold teeth certain comparisons to other artists (Riff Raff) and stereotypes start rearing their head.

After hearing “White Iverson” a few times and then doing a bit of research to discover that Post Malone is a very talented musician. I came across this video by Austin Richard. That just stirred the curiosity even further. A couple of days later I notice he’s found his way into an opening performance for SBTRAKT at 9:30 club. So, I fork up the $35 dollars to go to the show.

FKI took the stage that evening and warmed the crowd up with today’s trap hits. Then out came PostMalone to his hit song “White Iverson” which I thought was a bit strange. But, later made sense, since he also closed his set 25 minutes later with the song that’s created his buzz. I also enjoyed his performance of “Too Young” and “40 Funk”. Posty also debuted a strong follow up to “White Iverson” called “Tears”.
