Blake9 and Bisquite meet through mutual friend, mentor and music collaborator Jaysonic in the year 2000. The two proceeded to work together releasing their first single on 7inch vinyl titled “Say What” in 2001. Despite the spontaneous release the single was well received among the masses. Selling 850 copies of “Say What” throughout the U.S. and Japan. Continuing with the momentum they released their first 12inch single in 2004 titled “Spilt Milk”, a second 12inch was released in 2005 titled “Deluxe Laminated”, a third 12inch was released in 2007 titled “Walking Thru Fire”. In 2008 Nine:Fifteen put out the “Plastic Wrapped Couch” digi single that helped feed the fire that was their first album, “Electric Blanket” released in 2009.

The two continue working together to achieve the greater goal. Blake9 is a producer/dj out of Alexandria, Virginia. He runs his own record label called Candlewax Records. Right now Blake9 works at a prominent trade association in Washington DC and manages Candlewax Records with the help of good friend and collaborator, Bisquite. Bisquite is also in a group called Time Machine. He resides in Los Angeles California and is working full time to get a solar energy company off the ground.

the acornsThe Acorns

the Acorns have been collaborating for years. Here and there, whenever Mad Squirrel can make it out-the-woods, if you were lucky enough to see them perform, then you know you saw some shit. At one show, Mad Squirrel lost his voice on a three song set. At another, Blake showed up minutes before they went on stage, thoroughly trashed. Simply stated, when the Acorns show up, shit’s bound to go down. It wouldn’t take a dumb-ass to figure out that they’ve been doing more than just shows. Mad Squirrel wouldn’t be showing up at the Candlewax Palace, complete with Irish CarBomb studio, without layin some shit down over some-a-them Blake9 tracks. the Acorns have released two full length albums, “Dropping From the Trees” was released in 2005 and “Forming Roots” was released in 2009. the Acorns continue to make classic innovative hip hop music. By any means possible, try and catch one of their shows. Mad Squirrel is one of the many tallented Emcees of Forest Fires Collective. FFC/Mad Squirrel releases include the self-titled FFC CD and 12-inch, the You Can’t See . . . CD, the Fresh Air 12-inch, as well as the Bear With Me and Pinko underground tapes.

yesterday's truthYesterday’s Truth

Yesterday’s Truth is Ionic & Blake9 who have known each other since the 7th grade. Recently, they bumped into each other after years of no contact & found that they have similar tastes and interest in music. While running into each other at a show at 9:30, they decided to make some tunes together. After passing some beats and lyrics back and fourth they have come up with self titled EP available on iTunes. Be on the look out for more collaborations by Yesterday’s Truth in the near future. Stay tuned…
