• Get to know: SO {Standing Ovation}

    Tonight we bring you a duo that goes by the name of SO (Standing Ovation). These artists are a lot different than a lot of the artists we post on our site. They are styled as “Andre 3000 flying on a killer ecstasy peyote cocktail”. The project takes you far into a different world of wickedness. The dark vibes this duo gives us is just unreal.

    In a review article on All Hip Hop, the duo’s style is described as, “Aside from the genre-bending sounds, there is something distinctly appealing about the SO experience that is sure to capture even the most hardened imagination.”

    The project will definitely leave you wanting more.

  • Speed [music video] – Standing Ovation – @_SO_SO_SO_SO (@BronzeBabyShoes + @iamTheCharacter)

    Standing Ovation is a hiphop duo comprised of Bronze Baby Shoes who’s the producer of all the music and The Character who’s the lyricist flowing over all the beats. Think of them like a more modern day Eric B / Rakim, Will Smith / Jazzy Jeff or like a Macklamore and Ryan Lewis type group. Their music style sounds more like hardcore, backpack rap, infused with wicked funk, edm elements mixed perfectly over pungent, dueling lyrics. The Standing Ovation sound is quite extraordinary and unique.

  • Weird N Aweful Weird N Aweful @ Urban Event Space Los Angeles CA November 11 2016

    This was an extra added bonus from my trip to LA. I randomly meet Rakeem Miles on Facebook.  He’s a great MC from Baltimore Maryland.  He also managed to throw a great event in Los Angeles the night before Camp Flog Gnaw 2016. His event company Weird N Aweful secured a patio in the back of an art store for the performances. I didn’t really quite know what to expect, except that I had a feeling I’d be one of the oldest people in the building. I love music and I love staying on top of the “underground”. So, I had to go and check these kids out.  This is event included performances by Rakeem Miles, Herrick and Hooley, and more.  Also, pop up shops from up and coming street wear designers like my #Shane100 brethren Infinite Expression, Soggy Waffels, and even an appearnce by Odd Future’s own Mike G. It was definitely a lot of fun. I’m hoping to catch a Weird N Aweful event again soon. Be sure to check out Rakeem has he rises to the top!
