• Camp Flog Gnaw @ Exposition Park Los Angeles November 12 – 13 2016

Second annual visit with The Character to work on our music projects and catch Tyler the Creator’s Camp Flog Gnaw. This year trip to LA marks 3rd annual SO { Standing Ovation} “bro-down”. We recorded 4 new tracks that we’re excited to share with you.

This year Camp was two days! Among some of the highlights was seeing Chance the Rapper, Rae Sremmurd, Action Bronson, Joey Badass, Toro Y Moi, Anderson Paak, Death Grips, Left Brain, School Boy Q, A$AP Rocky, and of course the man himself Tyler the Creator.  The second night of CFG included a performance by Ear Wolf that was memorable. Tyler encouraged this years camp goes to put their phones down. Meet new people and discover a new band. So, I did just that. One of the newer groups I had no clue about was Gallant. They were very good musicians.

One of the highlights of this trip was meeting my Shanemundi family.  There’s a radio show what has brought together a great community of kids that all are very unique and artistic. I’ve was lucky to meet some of the kids that I’ve been communicating with in person. Also, meeting the man himself, Shane Powers.

I wanted to elaborate more, but my procrastination has allowed some of the details to get a little blurry. I’ll always have the memories though.  Remember, find your wings!

  • Camp Flog Gnaw @ LA Coliseum November 14 2015

This is becoming a tradition now. I fly out to LA in the Fall, record a handful of songs with my friend, and hit Camp Flog Gnaw. 2015 was the 4th Annual carnival, however only the second one I’ve attended and it did not disappoint.  I listened to the openers (Prof) via Dash Radio / The Shane Show while commuting to the Los Angeles Coliseum for the event. We entered the camp grounds to “Get Away” from The Internet which served as the perfect soundtrack to the beginning of the night. After enjoying a few more songs from The Internet we decided to walk around and get familiar with the rest of the festival grounds.

  • Tyler the Creator @ 9:30 Club Washington DC June 9, 2014

I’ve been going to a lot of shows lately.  So, I think I’m going to do my best to blog them here on candlewaxrecords.com. Unfortunately, I may have to start with this most recent performance and work backwards a bit, but we’ll get all caught up.

I went to see Tyler the Creator at the 9:30 club here in my home town Washington DC.  I found my usual spot in the back of the club near the sound man.   Tyler hit the stage promptly at 9:0o following a DJ set from his comical side kick, Taco.  After Tyler’s opening song, he made a joke about how he was surprised how “hood” DC is while making a crack about getting roughed at Whole Foods.  Personally, I had a great time and Tyler did not disappoint.  Up to his usual antics and being backed up by hype man Jasper.  The three delivered a show filled with emotion, intensity and frequent comical bits.  The crowd was exceptionally young as you might expect.  However, I was pleasantly reminded of all the shows I went to at the 9:30 club when I was 15 and knew that they were having a great experience.  Quite frankly, it was nice to be around that energy.  It was quite comical though to watch the bartenders twiddle their thumbs with the lack of attendees that were over 21.  On multiple occasions Tyler mentioned how he was feeling the crowd here in DC.  Which was live!  It was nice that he acknowledged that.  Tyler Washington DC Verified?
